Fun comes first at SSC! We have a full calendar of events for our local cruising community and it really is the core of this club. Join us for monthly socials, raft-ups around the lake, and special events like pirate wars, boat parades, dock movie nights.
- July Social – Come Sail Away (7/9/2020)
We have selected “Come Sail Away” as our theme for this month. Wear your nautical inspired shirts, hats, or outfits— we know you have them already! We had great success at our social last month thanks to members who eagerly offered to help serve the main entree, side dishes, and desserts. If you’re willing to help serve for July, please let Michelle Dial or Sue Oats know. We are also asking for a volunteer who would be willing to prepare the main entree this month. The club will reimburse the expense up to $100 and the options for main dishes are pretty wide open with the “Come Sail Away” theme. We do ask that all club members bring a side dish or dessert to share. You can leave your serving utensils at home because the club will have sanitized serving ware ready for our volunteers.
If you do plan to attend the July social, we also ask that you RSVP by Wed, 7/22 so we can ensure there is enough food available for everyone. We had such a great turnout in June and looking forward to seeing our club members again in a couple weeks!
- 4th of July Boat Parade & Decorating Contest (6/30/2020)
The 4th of July is this weekend and that means it is time for the SSC boat parade and decorating contest! We will ask everyone who is participating to turn on their VHF radios to channel 69 starting at 12:30pm. We’ll have all parade participants drop into line just outside of the marina and motor up past the Redbud campground, pass by the dam, and along the Hawthorn campgrounds starting roughly at 1pm. If parade participants would like to raft up afterwards, then please use the radio to communicate the raft up location to others.
Be sure to decorate your boat for the parade… we want to see red, white, and blue all over your boat as we celebrate America’s birthday! We will have judges located at the end of Dock 6 to decide which boat will claim the title as the most patriotic vessel as they pass by in the parade. The winner will be announced over the radio once the judges have voted and made their decision.
No matter what you have planned for Independence Day, we hope everyone has a very safe and happy 4th of July weekend! - April Events Cancelled (4/3/2020)
Due to the continued social distancing recommendations by health and government authorities, all April events are cancelled. This includes the first two races of the Spring Racing series and the April Reunion Social. Additional details on May events to follow.
Stay safe and well, sailors!
- April Social: Reunion 2020 (2/29/2020)
We all know that sailing the Sea of Oologah is always quite the experience, not only the sailing itself, but the camaraderie that we have gained over the years. We thought it would be fun to get together with our long lost friends to riminess and tell the tall tales. Also, dig to the bottom of your dresser drawers and pull out your oldest sailing T-shirt. Either wear or bring that t-shirt and let’s see who the real “Old Salt” is. You may just earn yourself a prize.
If you are interested in joining us, and we really hope you are, please RSVP by commenting below to let us know how many plan to attend or by adding your RSVP to our Facebook event.
As always, we will supply the entree’, which is why we need your RSVP by April 17th, but if you would bring a side dish to share, that would be awesome. Also, bring your beverages.
Earlier that day, the Marina is holding a Swap Meet starting at 2:00. Come up, plan to spend the day.
- CANCELLED: March Social: Wearing ‘o the Green (2/29/2020)
